Holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, a graduate diploma in Development from the University of Guyana and Master of Arts in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University. Prior to joining the Department of Sociology she worked as a Social Community Mobiliser, Team Leader and Project Officer with Oxfam. She joined the faculty in 2006 and immediately served as the Walter Rodney Chair.
