Biography:

Miss Melissa Lynch completed her Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B.) with Distinction from the University of Guyana in 2016. Thereafter, she pursued her Master of Laws in International Law & Organization at the University of Madras, India under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Commonwealth Scholarship Programme. Upon completion, Miss Lynch received the following prizes from the University of Madras:

  • The President of India. Dr Shanker Dayal Sharma Gold Medal;
  • The Shri V. Suresham Memorial Prize;
  • The Carmicheal Prize


Miss Lynch joined the Department of Law in 2019 having completed her Masters in International Law and Organization at the University of Madras (India). Her areas of interest include international law, foreign relations, diplomacy and international human rights law. She is also concerned with the operation of the domestic legal system, in particular, the criminal justice system and strategies for its restructuring. Miss Lynch is currently working on a co-authored article titled “Women Participation in Space Exploration: A Non-discriminatory Vision of India” which she hopes will provide the motivation for greater female participation in outer space activities
